Mobile Software Engineer

Are you an experienced mobile software engineer seeking a meaningful job where you can make a real difference in people’s lives? If so, keep reading…

Vivante Health is taking on digestive disease. An astonishing 70 million Americans are living with a gastrointestinal (GI) disorder. That’s twice the number with diabetes and more than many other chronic conditions combined. When it comes to money, GI-related insurance claims are one of the top cost drivers for employers and health plans. On top of that, digestive conditions are often embarrassing and stigmatized, taking a major toll on quality of life and productivity.

At Vivante Health, we’re doing something about this costly and growing problem. We created GIThrive, the first ever digital program for gut health and disease. GIThrive empowers people—through clever technology, advanced science, and on-demand human support—to spend less time feeling sick and more time living life. A convenient byproduct: measurable healthcare savings.

We’re looking for a driven, experienced software engineer who’s excited about our mission and wants to help us build a user-friendly application to improve the health of thousands of people.

What you’ll be doing as our mobile software engineer:

  • Producing fully functional mobile applications through writing solid testable code
  • Utilizing reactive methodologies using reactive extensions (Rx*)

  • Shaping the future of our application by collaboratively designing new features

Your profile

  • Strong engineering background, preferably with academic training in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or equivalent practical experience
  • Familiar with iOS or Android
  • Willingness and ability to work in a cross-functional, product-focused team, and actively participate in the design of future features and iterations
  • Experience in web service architectures; WebSockets and JSON RESTful APIs
  • Good understanding of the full mobile development life cycle
  • Passionate about mobile platforms and translating ideas into user-friendly applications
  • English fluency

Ideally you also have:

  • Knowledge of Agile methodologies

You’ll fit in with our company culture if you:

  • Are user centric and view technology as a tool to improve a user’s life
  • Are a team player and help other team members to achieve the team’s goals
  • Have a bias for action; the world is complex and an unpredictable place so starting, releasing, and getting feedback iteratively is the only possible path to success
  • Strive to be articulate and humble, make the complex simple, present ideas openly, accept that being wrong is part of the process
  • Are not afraid of tackling problems that others deem impossible
  • Thrive in an entrepreneurial team, adapt easily to change, and enjoy a fast-paced environment
  • Have worked in a fast-growing organization before (preferred)

Some of the benefits we offer:

  • Opportunity to shape the future of digital health – one of the fastest growing industries
  • Ability to grow with the company. (We’ve only built a fraction of what we imagine.)
  • Working with an international team
  • Flat hierarchies
