It’s always exciting when companies find measurable success with a healthcare program like GIThrive. Vivante Health is proud to release a results-driven case study showing how one client used GIThrive® to drive a 15% reduction in healthcare spend while helping employees better manage their digestive health.
Our client, a large non-profit employer serving over 30,000 people, discovered that medical costs for digestive conditions is in its top five most expensive categories of healthcare claim spend. In July 2019, they partnered with Vivante Health to use GIThrive to directly address digestive conditions and disease.
Guidance That Drives Lower Costs
With its focus on personalized, tech-enabled support for people with digestive disease, Vivante’s GIThrive matches well with aspects of this company’s vision, which called for being a financially accessible, innovative healthcare program. Employees quickly embraced the program, enrolling in GIThrive. Our Care Team offers guidance on healthier nutrition, activity and lifestyle choices to help reduce how often members may need expensive medical care.
Of course, once this company plugged in, it was important to find out whether their members who registered as GIThrive users were actually driving reduced healthcare spend compared to members who weren’t enrolled in the program.
That’s when Vivante Health worked with the client to conduct a detailed analysis comparing claims data for 470 GIThrive users against 1,880 people not enrolled in GIThrive.
Data was compared from July 2018 to June 2019 (one year prior to GIThrive launch) and July 2019 to June 2020 (12 months post-GIThrive launch). Users were matched with non-users based on gender, age category, presence of any GI disease, and healthcare cost. After removing outliers from both groups with a total medical spend above $50,000, GIThrive consistently saves Company A more than $840 annually per member on average—a 15% reduction in spend.
We invite you to take a closer look at the results and see how GIThrive drove costs down while greatly improving the health and well-being for hundreds of employees. Click here to download the case study today.
